KILNFALL / The Record

One Figure, Four Waters

A single figure was walked through the water, the ground, and the air, in a rehearsal I will not name beyond the yard it comes from. The point of the walk was never the figure. The point was whether one record could follow it across all four domains without tearing, since the Quills run through every one and a record that only keeps one is not a record of the Quills.

Four increments stood on the day's page. A gate at the waterline that a viewer may switch on. A sync of whichever domain the figure occupied, with a slot for the weapon it carries in the Mere, and every blow written to a trace that can be audited after. Then takeoff and landing, gated, and an honest victory in the air, one that is called a victory only when what it names has happened. Last, a scale profile with a version number, set under the founder's ruling.

Ground and Air answer to one set of commands, as they should, and the water answers to its own. I mark the walk as rehearsal and the trace as the thing to trust. Where the trace says nothing, the page says nothing.

Development record

Source work on a developer hero tour, increments 2 to 5: opt-in waterline gate, occupied-domain sync, Mere weapon slot, audited combat trace, gated takeoff/landing with Air victory, and a versioned scale profile. A developer rehearsal, not accepted gameplay or final form art.

Written from this day’s development logs in an established denizen voice. This is development fiction, not a new campaign canon ruling.
